Travel Tips & News from SIXT Rent a Car

6 Reasons to Rent a Car at Brisbane Airport

Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, is one of Australia’s friendliest cities. There’s so much to explore – from the great outdoors to unusual scenic drives.

On a holiday, you don’t want to waste a minute, which is why picking up a car rental at Brisbane Airport is an excellent idea.

Instead of spending time looking for train stations, sitting on buses or waiting for taxi drivers, you’ll be able to travel wherever you like, whenever you like.

FLY DIRECTLY FROM 32 INTERNATIONAL DESTINATIONS (AND LOADS OF DOMESTIC ONES)

Brisbane is the third busiest airport in Australia (after Sydney and Melbourne).

This means it’s incredibly well connected. You can fly directly to and from no fewer than 32 international destinations, from Los Angeles to Bangkok to Doha.

Domestically, there’s even more choice. Flights go non-stop between Brisbane and Australian destinations small and large, from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide to Alice Springs, Cairns and Launceston.

HAVE A LONGER HOLIDAY IN BRISBANE

Brisbane might be the capital of Queensland, but it’s a long drive from many of Australia’s major towns and cities.

Adelaide is 22 hours by road, Darwin is 36 hours and Canberra is 12 hours.

Unless you’ve a week or two to spare on a road trip, you’ll have a much more relaxing holiday if you fly to Brisbane Airport.

It’s only two hours and 45 minutes by air from Adelaide, four hours from Darwin and two hours from Canberra.

GET ON THE ROAD QUICKLY

Hiring a car at Brisbane Airport is incredibly convenient.

You’ll find most vehicle rental providers just a brief walk from where you pick up your luggage in the arrivals area.

As you’re leaving the terminal, follow the signs to rental vehicles, which will lead you across the sky bridge. Then catch the lift to the ground floor.

SIXT is on the eastern side. We’re hard to miss, thanks to our orange signs.

RENT THE VEHICLE THAT’S RIGHT FOR YOU

Brisbane Airport offers a variety of rental vehicles, ensuring that you’ll be able to find one that’s ideal for you, your travelling companions and your plans.

SIXT, as one of the planet’s biggest car hire businesses, has a particularly extensive and varied fleet. Our collection at Brisbane Airport ranges from standard sedans by Kia to luxury SUVs by Tesla to 4WDs by Mitsubishi.

CUSTOMISE YOUR RENTAL CAR

One of the great things about hiring a car is that you can customise it to suit a particular trip, without breaking the bank.

At SIXT, we’re passionate about providing personalised experiences for our customers, and that includes offering a variety of optional extras.

If you’re travelling with children, add a safe, comfortable car seat to your rental. If you could do without the hassle of finding a petrol station on the way back to Brisbane Airport, opt for prepaid fuel. If you want to drive in and around Brisbane confidently, without getting lost, book a GPS unit.

SEE THE BEST OF BRISBANE

To see all that Brisbane and its surrounds have to offer, you need a car.

There are bucketloads of beautiful places, but most aren’t well connected by public transport.

With a set of wheels at your fingertips, you can go wherever you like – from the waterfalls and rainforests of the hinterland to the beaches and islands of the coast.

You might even travel further afield, on a road trip to Toowoomba, or a day trip to the Scenic Rim.
