Holiday-goers from all over the world jet-set to Victoria to travel along the Great Ocean Road. Famous for its scenic views, the route offers some spectacular natural sights from the driver’s seat, including dramatic coastal cliff drops, lush Australian rainforests and sweet coastal towns.<\/p>\n

So if you are ready to shift gears and cruise down this wondrous road, follow our 7 day scenic drive itinerary to get started:<\/p>\n

Day 1 – Torquay<\/h2>\n

If you start your trip from Torquay, you’ll need at least a day to get to know the area. Famous for its surf culture (there’s even a Surfing Museum), it’s a great spot to hit the waves at Bells Beach or enjoy a stroll and watch the surfing pros on the Surf Coast Walk. If you’re not a surfing pro? No worries!<\/p>\n

You can take part in one of the many surfing lessons run weekly and for accommodation check out RACV Torquay resort<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Day\u00a02 – Torquay to Apollo Bay<\/h2>\n

Once you’ve become well-acquainted with the area of Torquay, it’s time to start your Great Ocean Road exploration. Around 1 hour and 40 minutes drive south you will find yourself at Apollo Bay – another seaside town that is sure to capture your heart. It’s got an impressive marina, which means your fish and chips will include some tasty locally caught fish. Spend the afternoon exploring the beachside town and see it from above by driving up to the Marriners Lookout.<\/p>\n

Day\u00a03 – Apollo Bay to the Twelve Apostles<\/h2>\n

One of the biggest attractions of the Great Ocean Road is the iconic Twelve Apostles, a collection of limestone stacks that sit against the magnificent backdrop of coastal cliffs. The world renowned land formation is located around 1 hour and 20 minutes from Apollo Bay. When you finish admiring the beauty of this natural delight, drive just a short 10 minutes to stay the night in Port Campbell.<\/p>\n

Day 4 – Port Campbell<\/h2>\n

Another small fishing village, Port Campbell is a popular place for travellers to stay on their Great Ocean Road tour, especially with the Twelve Apostles so close by and since it’s day 4 on your 7 day road trip, it’s the perfect place to relax for the day. Enjoy the water sports the town has to offer including snorkelling, kayaking and boating and for the foodies out there Apostle Whey Cheese, Berry World and Cheeseworld are all must visits.<\/p>\n

Day\u00a05 – Port Campbell to Port Fairy<\/h2>\n

Next up, drive around 1 hour and 15 minutes to Port Fairy, where you can live like a lady or gentleman of leisure by visiting the Port Fairy Day Spa. And of course just like every other spot on this Great Ocean Road itinerary there are beautiful natural wonders. The Crags is just 12km from Port Fairy and showcases the stunning cliffs that were formed thousands of years ago. In fact the area has been dubbed ‘shipwreck coasts’ due to the rugged coastline.<\/p>\n

Day\u00a06 – Port Fairy to Portland<\/h2>\n

Just 50 minutes away and another holiday destination with ‘port’ in its name, Portland is a great spot to visit due to its history. Did you know it was the first settlement in Victoria? The European influence is evident in much of the architecture found in the town today.<\/p>\n

Day\u00a07 – Mount Richmond National Park<\/h2>\n

Finish your trip by getting back to nature and visiting the nearby Mount Richmond National Park from Port Fairy. You can drive up to the summit of the extinct Mount Richmond volcano or go by foot and take one of the walking trails to get close to nature.<\/p>\n
