SIXT Australia and Waru Vehicle Hire have struck a partnership in order to expand upon their footprint into the Pilbara region, Western Australia.
Waru, meaning the fire that burned the small scrubland in order to help regenerate the land, is an award-winning, majority Aboriginal-owned company specialising in commercial vehicle rentals primarily serving the mining, defence, private, and government sectors in the Pilbara region.
Led by Shakira Grasso, a traditional owner with strong local heritage, Waru won the ‘New Indigenous Business of the Year’ at the 2024 AEMEE Awards. Whilst Waru focuses on delivering reliable passenger & commercial vehicle solutions, they also provide a valuable impact to the local community.
SIXT Australia Chief Executive Officer Matthew Beattie said SIXT Australia was pleased to welcome Waru Vehicle Hire as their newest franchise partner, expanding their footprint into the Pilbara region, Western Australia.
“Waru is the first franchise partner we have welcomed since launching SIXT in Australia in 2021. This exciting new partnership unlocks opportunities to significantly expand our reach and strengthen our ability to better serve our local and international customers. Waru Vehicle Hire Director Shakira Grasso said partnering with SIXT Australia marked a transformative milestone for Waru from the first meeting with the team at SIXT.
“I knew right away that our values and visions aligned, both with a drive to succeed and create sustainable opportunities for our community and future generations,” Ms Grasso said
“SIXT’s global reputation and dedication to premium customer service and Waru’s deep local roots and commitment to community impact in the Pilbara, our home, is a strong partnership. It opens up possibilities for us to grow our business, enhance our capabilities and better serve our customers. I’m incredibly proud of this alliance, confident in our collective ability to make a meaningful difference in the Pilbara.
“We are extremely proud to partner with a business of this calibre and together, we look forward to servicing more customers in Western Australia.”
