Recognising the critical role played by biodiversity in sustaining life, SIXT Australia, as part of the NRMA Group, has partnered with Wildlife Recovery Australia (WRA).
WRA is a joint venture between the Odanata Foundation and Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital. The Odanata Foundation’s purpose is to empower all Australians to save our unique wildlife and ecosystems, reverse climate change and increase biodiversity. With a growing network of wildlife sanctuaries around Australia, Odanata is helping to save and preserve Australia’s threatened species.
Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital (BBWH) was set up by a group of dedicated wildlife veterinarians in northern NSW. None of us will forget the horrific bush fires of 2019 and 2020 which saw over 3 billion of our native species die and their habitats destroyed, the flooding over the last year has exacerbated the problem.
BBWH’s mobile veterinary hospital, Matilda, housed within a semitrailer can be deployed to disaster areas to support and assist wildlife in need.
The NRMA Group has provided vital funding to support their work and provided additional funding to enable the development of Wildlife Car Rescue Kits. These kits enable us all to assist wildlife injured on roads providing the information and equipment necessary to safely assist and transport injured wildlife.
